Yummy Humans

We're sorry this blog has been such a long time coming!
It has been a wonderful two weeks, we have been up and down the Goa coast, paying brief visits to Arambol and Ashwem. Ashwem is a quiet beach with long stretches of white sand. We also travelled by train to Gokarna, Karnataka. We were remembered from last year at the Sea Green Cafe, which Elen will know. This time we stayed in their accomodation - basic stilted huts among the palm trees. Rhiannon's hut had a nightly visitor, that scratched at her roof and left anonymous footprints as it walked, hopped or scuttled above her head. We also went to Om beach and Kudle beach where there was a definite hippy contingent, and wonderful views of the endless Gokarna coastline from the clifftop.

Chris has introduced us to his friends in Calangute and we have spent many a night at Andrew's Shack, which was set up in the 60s. There's been a lot of dancing, swimming, talking and watching the sun go down. We were lucky enough to be around on Andrew's birthday, which was celebrated with great enthusiasm, a huge cake and plenty of Kingfishers.

We're both over the moon about Elen arriving on the 16th- she'll be flying to Mumbai and getting a train down to Goa, where we will be waiting.
On Saturday we visited the night market in Anjuna. It is a very popular place to go and there are so many people milling around, from every country you could think of. You can buy almost anything there, but it is especially big on gorgeous clothes. There was a fashion show in which the costumes of the psytrance scene so famous to Goa were paraded by, as the compare said, 'beautiful international bodies.'

The north of Goa is becoming familiar territory, we are staying in Siolim and shopping in the local supermarket. Yesterday we bought a mop. There is an abundance of ants in the appartment. Tiny ones that get everywhere. Bethan is too nice to drown or torch them so they continue to thrive.

Last night we arrived home quite late and were surrounded by some pretty mean looking dogs. We know that you're not supposed to show any fear, but when they're growling and baring teeth that's not always possible. So we kept our heads down and tried to pretend it wasn't happening.
We escaped intact.

Both feel a little strange now Chris has gone, it has been a very happy time.

It's good to hear from you xxx We've seen Chris' pictures on Facebook, too. All being well, Elen will be with you by the weekend and it'll be a case of "Three Go Gallivanting in Goa". Regarding dogs; in the mountains in Europe, bending down as if you're going to pick up a stone sometimes works, failing that carry a stout stick. xxx

We didn't think of that. Someone also told us to carry a pack of sweet biscuits around with us. So excited Elen's coming. I got a message from her saying she's at Heathrow! Love you both x x Rh
